Installation

You install the apps of SPOTS-BSS GmbH in Business Central Online from Microsoft Marketplace (AppSource), and in Business Central on-premises from the app files on the Releases page. All apps require the SPOTS License Manager.

Business Central Online (AppSource)

To install, you need permissions to manage extensions in Business Central.

From Business Central

  1. Use the search to open the Extension Management page.
  2. Search the marketplace there for the app, e.g. "ScanSPOT". The publisher is SPOTS-BSS GmbH.
  3. Choose Get it now and confirm the installation.

From Microsoft Marketplace

  1. Open Microsoft Marketplace and search for the app, e.g. "ScanSPOT". The publisher is SPOTS-BSS GmbH.
  2. Choose Get it now and sign in with your Business Central account.
  3. Choose the environment in which the app is to be installed and confirm the installation.

License Manager and updates

Business Central installs the SPOTS License Manager automatically. You can see the installation status on the Extension Management page. Microsoft applies updates together with the updates of the environment. In the Business Central admin center you can also apply available updates earlier.

Business Central on-premises

Download the app files

The Releases page offers all versions of the apps for download. For each version there is one ZIP file per Business Central version, e.g. ScanSPOT-29.0.1.0-BC25.zip for Business Central 25. Download the file that matches your Business Central version and extract it.

The ZIP file contains the app and all apps it requires, including the SPOTS License Manager, e.g.:

  • SPOTS-BSS GmbH_ScanSPOT_29.0.1.0_BC25.app
  • SPOTS-BSS GmbH_SPOTS License Manager_29.0.1.0_BC25.app

Install

Install the apps in the Business Central Administration Shell as an administrator of the server. Install the SPOTS License Manager first, then the app. If this version of the License Manager is already installed, skip it.

Example: ScanSPOT 29.0.1.0 in the server instance BC250, tenant default. The ZIP file is extracted to C:\Apps\ScanSPOT-29.0.1.0-BC25.

$Instance = 'BC250'
$Tenant = 'default'
$Folder = 'C:\Apps\ScanSPOT-29.0.1.0-BC25'

# 1. SPOTS License Manager
Publish-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Path "$Folder\SPOTS-BSS GmbH_SPOTS License Manager_29.0.1.0_BC25.app"
Sync-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Tenant $Tenant -Name 'SPOTS License Manager' -Version 29.0.1.0
Install-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Tenant $Tenant -Name 'SPOTS License Manager' -Version 29.0.1.0

# 2. ScanSPOT
Publish-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Path "$Folder\SPOTS-BSS GmbH_ScanSPOT_29.0.1.0_BC25.app"
Sync-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Tenant $Tenant -Name 'ScanSPOT' -Version 29.0.1.0
Install-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Tenant $Tenant -Name 'ScanSPOT' -Version 29.0.1.0

Update

Publish the new version, synchronize it and then run the data upgrade. Afterwards you can unpublish the old version. Here, too, update the SPOTS License Manager first if the ZIP file contains a newer version than the installed one.

Example: ScanSPOT from 29.0.1.0 to 29.0.2.0, the License Manager is already up to date.

$Instance = 'BC250'
$Tenant = 'default'
$Folder = 'C:\Apps\ScanSPOT-29.0.2.0-BC25'

Publish-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Path "$Folder\SPOTS-BSS GmbH_ScanSPOT_29.0.2.0_BC25.app"
Sync-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Tenant $Tenant -Name 'ScanSPOT' -Version 29.0.2.0
Start-NAVAppDataUpgrade -ServerInstance $Instance -Tenant $Tenant -Name 'ScanSPOT' -Version 29.0.2.0

# Unpublish the old version
Unpublish-NAVApp -ServerInstance $Instance -Name 'ScanSPOT' -Version 29.0.1.0

To see which versions are published and installed, run Get-NAVAppInfo -ServerInstance $Instance -Tenant $Tenant -TenantSpecificProperties.

License

Without an AppSource license, you license the apps through the SPOTS License Manager. The license status of each app is shown on the page Installed Products - SPOTS-BSS® GmbH. There you activate an app with Activate Product and load the current status with Refresh License.

After the installation

Set up the app as described in its documentation under "Setup". You will find the documentation of the apps under Get Started.
